Colostrum is the most important factor in the health of the new born calf. It has always been assumed that provided the calf received mother's colostrum, this would be sufficient. However, recent veterinary tests have shown that a large percentage of calves have significantly low antibody levels at 3 - 5 days of age.
A calf is at risk if it does not receive colostrum within the first twelve hours of life or if it receives poor quality colostrum from a heifer or young cow that has not built up on-farm immunity.
Scientists, researchers and veterinarians alike are now recommending supplementation of the cow's own colostrum whenever in doubt.
Procol® is absolutely unique in that it is 100% pure natural bovine colostrum with no added fillers or milk substitutes. This guarantees the new born calf the best possible start in life. However as with all products, practicality is fundamental in ensuring success and the 'mixability' of Procol® is what makes it stand apart from the competitors.
Time and time again on the farm, at Shows and Exhibitions, farmers tell us the Number One reason they use Procol® is because "it mixes easily."
So, not only is it a great product but it is one that is easy to administer.
